Child safety standards
What changed in this version
- First English version.
- Added US reporting to the NCMEC CyberTipline.
- Age check and re-registration wording corrected to match how the app works.
Kor is only for people aged 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This page is published under Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and is a binding description of how we act.
Age limit
At sign-up we ask for your birth month and year; anyone under 18 cannot create an account or light a kor (this is also checked on our server). When we learn that a user is under 18, we immediately close the account and delete its data, regardless of the age they declared.
Prohibited conduct
The following are strictly prohibited and lead to permanent account closure:
- Sharing, requesting, producing or linking to child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- Trying to deceive, persuade or arrange to meet a child for sexual purposes (grooming)
- Any material that sexualizes children, including text, drawings, animation or AI-generated content
- Facilitating, praising or normalizing child trafficking, child prostitution or any form of child abuse
- Uploading a photo showing a child as a venue photo
- Using the app while presenting yourself as under 18, or opening an account on behalf of a child
How to report in the app
- In a chat: Report or Block from the menu
- In Settings: Profile > Settings > Support > Report
- After a kor ends: “uncomfortable”
- On a venue photo: press and hold > Report. A photo with two reports is hidden automatically without waiting for human review.
Reports go directly to our team; the reporter's identity is never shown to the other person.
What we do when we receive a report
- We run venue photos through automated content screening before they appear on the map. If screening is not possible, the photo is not published.
- We review child safety reports with priority and within 24 hours at most.
- If a violation is confirmed we remove the content and permanently close the account; if we detect that the same person opened a new account, we close it too.
- We preserve the records needed for legal proceedings (messages, account information) as evidence, regardless of automatic deletion periods.
- Where a crime is suspected, we report it to the authorities.
Legal compliance and reporting to authorities
In the United States, we report apparent CSAM to the NCMEC CyberTipline as required by US federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A). In Türkiye we comply with the provisions of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237 on child sexual abuse and our obligations under Law No. 5651, and report CSAM cases to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and, where necessary, to the Information and Communication Technologies Authority. In other countries we report to the competent authorities. We promptly comply with valid requests from authorities.
